Community Facilities

With the high levels of population growth anticipated for Kwinana (through the ERIC strategy as well as other influences); the Town of Kwinana must plan strategically for the needs of its new community, and the services and facilities that this new community will require.

The Town of Kwinana has developed a 10-year program that will meet these needs whilst also maintaining a balance between its ability to provide services and financial sustainability.

The new Wellard Community Centre is the first example of the new era of Kwinana community facilities. For further information click here.

The proposed Knowledge Centre and Community Resource Centre is a key example of a development being planned and constructed in direct response to this increasing population and demand for services.

Another key community facility is the Orelia Sporting Facility, developed by the Department of Education and the Town of Kwinana. This facility comprises 3 district level sporting fields (for football, hockey and cricket), state-of-the-art pavilion and community meeting area, comprising viewing platforms, change rooms and clubrooms and indoor courts.

This facility will be available for use by both the new Gilmore College, the nearby primary school as well as fully accessible to the community and local sporting groups. It is expected to be available for use at the start of 2008.
