Town Centre Revitalisation
The revitalisation planned for Kwinana town centre will provide a substantial enhancement of shopping, retail and office facilities, and will create a modern, attractive and vibrant focus for the community.
The $340 million revitalisation will include a redesign of the town, with Chisham Avenue as the main street. Landmark developments signaling entry to the heart of the town on the corners of Chisham and Gilmore Avenues; and Chisham and Meares Avenues - are planned in the very short term. The town centre will be of substantial scale, incorporating an area of around 100Ha.
The Kwinana town centre revitalisation has four key components, which will collectively enhance our economic sustainability, provide educational benefits for future generations and further build our community pride and cohesion.
Retail
A planned 50% expansion of retail floor space at Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre, along with $40 million of improvements. The expansion will include a 250 seat alfresco style food hall.
Education
A massive injection into educational facilities has already started within Kwinana. Our education precinct will include a $12 million knowledge centre and community resource centre, a new $45 million high school, and an Automotive Centre of Excellence (TAFE) facility. Civic
The civic area of the town centre will become a focal point with the recent announcement of the development of a new alfresco tavern and licensed restaurant, new offices and commercial space, landscaped walkways, and a prominent town square.
Town of Kwinana approval has recently been granted for a medium density residential development within the Kwinana town centre. The Council is working with leading developers and a formal announcement detailing this project is anticipated shortly.
Residential
The E26 residential precinct will be a large residential precinct integrated with the other key precincts of the town centre. For more information click here.
These developments within the town centre will provide an injection for real and sustainable change in Kwinana, and will no doubt act as a catalyst from which further retail, restaurants and other service industries will develop.
