Major Projects
Over the next 15 years, a number of major projects are planned for the Town of Kwinana. These collectively represent an estimated inward investment of $11.5 billion from private and government sectors. Development projects will span residential, industrial and commercial areas.

Town Centre Revitalisation
The $340 million revitalisation of the new Kwinana town centre will see it emerge as a modern, attractive and vibrant place with a 50% further expansion in retail space.
Also planned are a new alfresco tavern and licensed restaurant, new offices and commercial space, landscaped walkways, a prominent town square, a multi-million dollar knowledge centre and community resource centre, a new high school and Automotive Centre of Excellence (TAFE) facility.

Eastern Residential Intensification Concept
The Eastern Residential Intensification Concept (ERIC) is a major planning strategy for development activity (particularly in the residential sector). The area incorporated within the ERIC strategy is from Anketell in the north, to Wellard in the south.
This area will house the vast majority of residential expansion within the Town of Kwinana in the next 15 years.

Kwinana Industrial Area
The Kwinana Industrial Area continues to be a key contributor to the Western Australian economy. There are further plans for significant investment in the next decade.
Kwinana industry has identified plans for capital expenditure of around $2.5 billion over the next 10 years.

Latitude 32 Industry Zone
The State Government's Latitude 32 Industry Zone is an opportunity for major industrial growth and will provide significant economic support in the Kwinana region, and more broadly in Western Australia.
Latitude 32 is anticipated to generate an additional 10,000 new jobs.

Fremantle Ports Outer Harbour
The Fremantle Ports Outer Harbour project is a state-of-the-art facility planned by the State Government to provide a significant expansion to container handling for the State, currently centered at Fremantle.
This new offshore facility will, on completion, be able to process two million containers a year, four times the current capacity of the Fremantle Harbour. This $1.3 billion State Government project is committed for completion by no later than 2015.

James Point Private Port
James Point Private Port is a major private port facility planned to be constructed at Kwinana Beach. Unlike the Fremantle Outer Harbour Project, this port will be land based and will provide much needed additional support to the growing container cargo industry.

Community Facilities Projects
The Town of Kwinana has developed a 10-year program of community facilities development that will meet the needs of the projected population growth, whilst also maintaining a balance between Council's ability to provide services and financial sustainability.
A new community centre in Wellard has been completed, with more key developments planned shortly.

Government Office Park
The Town of Kwinana has partnered with the State Government to create the new Department of Environment Office located at the corner of Gilmore Avenue and Stidworthy Court.
This court will form the central spine of a Government Office Park which will link directly into the new town centre and to the nearby medium density residential development.
Kwinana Station Bridge
The Kwinana rail station is located on Thomas Road adjacent to the Kwinana Freeway and just 10 minutes from the heart of Kwinana. This station, built as part of the Perth to Mandurah rail line will enable residents to be 23 minutes from the Perth CBD by rail.
