Commercial Developments

Key commercial sectors set to experience growth include retail and office accommodation; and hospitality.

Retail Accommodation
The level of retail services available to the community will dramatically increase following the redevelopment of the Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre occurs. The $40 million redevelopment of Kwinana Hub will include a 250 seat alfresco style food hall.

This approved redevelopment will increase the retail floor space from its current 16,000sqm to a proposed 25,000 sqm with further development of boutique and specialist retail stores along Meares Avenue in the new Kwinana town centre.

Office Accommodation
The new Kwinana town centre, in addition to the development of residential and retail accommodation also provides for a new area of office development.

Independent assessment of future requirements indicates that the Town will require a minimum of 10,500 sq.m of office space within the next few years. The first of these new office/commercial developments is likely to be announced by late 2007.

It is expected that over the next 5 years, Kwinana will see a massive increase in the demand for office space, resulting in the development of new offices and commercial areas, as well as the various retailers and facilities required to service this level of expansion.

Hospitality / New Licensed Brasserie
A key part of the planned town centre revitalisation is the creation of a night economy, an important strategy in ensuring that the town remains an active vibrant and exciting place to visit, long after retail trading hours have concluded.

The first major facility in the new Kwinana town centre is a new licensed brasserie, tavern and alfresco area.

Replacing the existing Kwinana Hotel, this new facility will bring modern alfresco dining and licensed facilities right into the heart of Kwinana and provide the ideal environment from which to attract further restaurants, coffee houses, alfresco eateries and other service industries.
